Same company, same industry - Automotive Advertising.
I applied to be a Product Specialist.
I interview internally on Monday morning and I’m really hoping I can make this switch.
I mean, the job is literally to be a car expert. How awesome is that?

Bad to the ass! I know a lot about our products repair wise obviously, but if someone ask me a “numbers” type of question or things a salesmen would know like packages and options, I wouldn’t have a clue lol

Good luck - where are you based? I’m in San Francisco and on the finance side (your job sounds way more interesting!), but we work for companies in the same industry it sounds like.

I’m in Metro Detroit.
I’ve been in charge of keeping track of all files for the agency for 3 years now. So organizing, tracking, tagging of all imagery and video for over 3 automotive brands.

Yeah, I’ll have to really study up on those, options, specs, packages, trim levels, all of it.

Sounds similar to the job I used to have. Great gig.

yeah I actually tried to get into this line of work about 5-6 years ago but I went a different direction and turned out to be kind of awesome at that. Now that I’ve completely revitalized this department I’m wanting to finally get that chance.

Nice, we have an office in Royal Oak as well. I’m at Jumpstart Automotive Group (we’re solely in online advertising). Wish I were more involved with car-related stuff, but at least its cool to work with a ton of car nerds.

Nice! I try not to reveal my company name online, but I can post my email and we can chat there if you want

Haha, no worries. I completely understand - I try not to let out personal stuff as well, figured buried in a random Oppo conversation would be OK.
How are you liking the industry, do you have some kind of goal where you’d like to end up? Being in accounting/finance my background is pretty flexible to any industry...I just kind of randomly ended up applying for this job and turned out I loved the company, and it has been a great first year so far. I was trying to compare options against an offer I had from Tesla (which I applied to as a dream job of sorts, but it went downhill rapidly from there and it seemed like a nightmare of a place to work...utter respect for the company, but they ask for way more dedication than I’m willing to give to a job right now). My email is this same handle at gmail if you’d rather just reply via that - please leave a heads up here if you do though, tend to not check that account too often.

Those things are really hard to keep up with when it’s just a casual interest. I could never memorize all that stuff unless it was a full-time job.

Good Luck.

As someone who has auto ad agencies as clients, I hope you get the job. They need more people who love cars, who “get it".

Well don’t worry whether I get this job or not I’ll still be here and still be a car guy at an auto agency.
There are plenty that are NOT car people.
If it makes you feel any better though, the CEO drives a Q7 and Ford Raptor, the President drives an A7, Ranger Rover and an Aston Martin so the roots of this place are firmly planted in cars and car people.

Thanks bro, hopefully we can celebrate with some whiskey!

Well it’s not like a college test, I can refer to documents, but it’ll be a lot easier if it’s memorized haha.

I’ll shoot you an email so I can go more in depth.
